Where they can build a career free from discrimination and stigma, access affirming and culturally competent healthcare, and grow older surrounded by communities that embrace them for exactly who they are.

When we started Equality Florida Institute nearly 30 years ago, LGBTQ Floridians faced enormous barriers. We couldn’t marry or adopt children. Workplace protections were almost nonexistent. LGBTQ students had few protections in schools, and transgender Floridians had virtually none anywhere in our state.
And yet—despite an always challenging political climate—we have won every single one of those fights. And we’re not done. I truly believe our greatest victories are still ahead of us. I’m glad you’re here to be part of what comes next.
